Alliance Sober Living Homes Review

Alliance Sober Living Homes is a men’s only upscale transitional living community that offers follow up support for those who have struggled with an addiction and are looking to acclimate back into their lives. There are three locations within Arizona’s Scottsdale and Phoenix areas that provide a variety of amenities and structure. Clients living in these locations commit to attending regular AA/NA meetings while under the guidance of caring house managers.

Accommodations and Amenities

Alliance’s three locations can accommodate up to nine clients at once within shared bedrooms of up to three per room. The homes, known as Cactus House, North House and 64th Street House are within quiet family friendly neighborhoods close to transportation, shopping and dining establishments. The houses are one story, modern and newly renovated with swimming pools, stainless steel appliances, and spacious living quarters. Some features include on-site laundry facilities, living rooms with flat screen TVs in each and cable/Internet included, large kitchens with two refrigerators, and plenty of outdoor space with BBQs.

Rules and Regulations

Those who are new to the program at Alliance are usually arriving from an intensive inpatient program and required to be sober at admission. Clients are expected to attend at least three off-site 12-step meetings a week and attend the on-site house meetings. A rotating schedule of chores is posted weekly.

After a client moves in, he has a couple of weeks to get settled before obtaining full time employment or enrolling in school, but needs to be settled in either path by the end of the first 30 days of his residency.  Clients are allowed to use the shared house computers and have their phones while living in the residences. They can also have their own cars, though all the locations are close to bus stations if needed.

As clients move through their time in the houses they are able to acquire more freedoms, like extended curfews and overnight passes. There are also weekly drug tests that clients have to submit to or risk being asked to leave.

Many staff members of Alliance Sober Living Homes are also in recovery and are able to offer comfort and guidance based on their experiences. There is a house manager who is available 24 hours a day.

In Summary

The goal of Alliance Sober Living Homes is to guide each resident through the initial stages in sobriety where they are free of chemicals but are still not entirely comfortable with the idea of returning home where they are surrounded by temptation and triggers. The house staff and clients form a support community of like minded individuals who have been through similar experiences and are able to build each other up.
