AIM Target Programs Review
AIM Target Programs in Ft. Meyers, Florida provides evidence-based outpatient treatment that incorporates elements of the 12 steps. The programs are designed for adult men and women who enter voluntarily or who have been court-ordered to attend. The programs include both individual and group therapy.
Treatment and Staff
AIM provides assessments for all clients to determine what level of treatment the individual needs. The programs are broken down into Target One and Two groups, as well as a third mostly education-based program known as Target E.
Target One is for those who have either recently received a DUI or have shown moderate issues with drugs and alcohol. Target One requires clients to attend ninety-minute group therapy sessions once a week for eight to 12 weeks.
Target Two is for individuals who have had previous substance-related convictions or who have exhibited signs of more serious addiction. This track lasts between 16 and 18 weeks and also consists of hour and a half long group therapy sessions. Both programs use evidence based methods including CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and EMDR. All Target Two clients are also required to attend a minimum of one outside AA or NA meeting per week during their time in treatment, which has to be signed off on by a representative.
Target E is the least intensive of the programs and runs for six weeks. This tier focuses mostly on psychoeducational programs and teaching awareness of the dangers of substance abuse and addictive behaviors.
Group sessions in all phases may focus on a variety of subjects, including anger management, domestic violence, relapse prevention and coping skills. Regular urinalysis tests are performed on clients in all phases throughout treatment. Individual therapy is also available in addition to the more structured programs. Sessions each run for an hour and are individualized to each client’s specific needs.
The programs at AIM are overseen by LCDCs, psychologists and caseworkers.
Extras
Clients who have completed any of the treatment programs at the facility are invited to participate in the aftercare program. It is available for up to one year after graduation and consists of hour-long group therapy sessions. This program is free to all clients who have been through one of the structured programs. There are also bilingual treatment programs available.
