AICC Lapeer County Review
AICC Lapeer County is a state-funded outpatient facility for alcohol and substance abuse that has been open since 1975. AICC is accredited by CARF and the Thumb Alliance, and licensed by the State of Michigan. Located in the small town of Lapeer, Michigan, AICC does not deny treatment to anyone for financial reasons, making this facility a safe haven for all who enter.
Treatment and Staff
Treatment at AICC is highly individualized with varying lengths of stay and frequency of sessions per week by client. Generally, these parameters are decided on during assessments with the help of assigned counselors. AICC can also make adjustments to accommodate work schedules, family commitments and other scheduling conflicts.
Both individual therapy and group therapy are available and clients commonly attend one of each session per week. Still, multiple group sessions occur throughout the week for those who want additional therapy. All groups are separated by gender and limited to no more than six people. Each is also run by a counselor of the same gender.
Once treatment is over at this facility, counselors take clients through a transition plan and relapse prevention techniques. They also provide all the necessary information about local 12-step meetings whenever necessary. Still, attending AA is not a mandatory part of AICC’s program.
The staff at AICC consists of counselors who are all CADCs, though there is also an LSW and other therapists with Master’s-level degrees.
Extras
AICC has a program for pregnant women as well as women with dependent children. It provides individual and group therapy along with primary medical, prenatal and pediatric care. Immunizations for dependent children are also available. Finally, transportation and free child care are also available.
In Summary
AICC offers a no frills outpatient program with limited structure. Group sessions all offer gender-specific care to make everyone feel comfortable, and those with children can also take advantage of child care services. Although AICC’s individualized treatment may not provide enough discipline and structure for some, those looking for an affordable and flexible program are likely to find themselves at home here.
