Agoura Hills Family Therapy is a behavioral health organization in its namesake, Agoura Hills, California. It offers outpatient-based counseling to men and women struggling with a range of issues. The facility is the private practice of Bryan Flame, a PhD-level LMFT with over 20 years experience. Flame utilizes a diverse array of therapy options including couples and marriage counseling, family therapy and individual counseling as well. All care plans are flexible and individualized to suit each client’s needs.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning a program, all clients go through an initial intake and assessment process to help Flame determine their needs. Although on-site detox and stabilization services are not available, those in need can get referrals as necessary. Once stabilized, participants attend therapy sessions with Flame with an evidence-based approach which primarily draws on CBT. Because so much of the practice also focuses on couples and family issues, treatment plans often use Family Systems approaches as well. Treatment also offers trauma-informed care whenever necessary. Though basic dual diagnosis support is available, those with more severe psychiatric issues may want to seek additional help elsewhere. Similarly, though 12-step participation is not required for all clients, it may be recommended in some cases. Topics covered in therapy may include self-esteem, coping skills and interpersonal relationships.
The staff at Agoura Hills Family Therapy is limited to LMFT Brian Flame and some additional support staff.
In addition to family and couples therapy, Dr. Flame also offers specialized programs for stress management, injury recovery and for clients who have recently lost a loved one. Spanish-speaking services are also offered along with specialized approaches for LGBTQ clients, veterans and white-collar professionals, specifically pilots. Other topics covered in therapy may include life coaching, weight loss, gender-specific issues, self-harm, career counseling, chronic pain and more. Therapy sessions are open to participants of all ages, ranging from 11 to 13 years olds all the way up to those ages 65 and over. Once clients complete a program, they can also work with Dr. Flame to develop stepped down aftercare plans as necessary.
Overall, Agoura Hills Family Therapy is, as the name suggests, a community-oriented organization which provides flexible and individualized care for individuals and families. While treatment plans often focus on families and couples, individual therapy is available as well for those dealing with addiction, behavioral issues and related co-occurring disorders. Because the facility is a private practice, all clients can expect plenty of one-on-one care and personal attention. While those with more severe psychiatric issues may want to seek additional aid, Agoura Hills Family Therapy remains a strong resource for those in the area.
