Agassiz Associates of Grand Forks, North Dakota offers low intensity outpatient day treatment and a higher intensity evening program for adult men and women. The substance abuse treatment consists of individual therapy with a range of evidence-based treatment methods. Agassiz has been providing psychological services to the community of Grand Forks since 2004.
Treatment and Staff
Though both of the outpatient tracks offered at Agassiz are considered low-intensity treatment, one requires clients to attend individual therapy only once a week while the other requires attendance three nights a week for three-hour groups in addition to one-one-one sessions. Treatment is individualized to each client’s needs.
All clients begin treatment with an initial assessment before being assigned to a therapist. Because treatment is customized, therapy may focus on behavioral modification and also incorporate CBT, DBT, EMDR, art or music therapy, Motivational Interviewing (MI) or a more mindful approach with meditation.
Those who take part in group sessions have a more education-based therapy approach with focus on relapse prevention, anger management and coping skills. Though there are no programs specifically designed for those with co-occurring conditions, though clients may obtain a psychiatric evaluation in order to receive medication management.
Agassiz also offers adolescent individual therapy programs for those 14 and older. These programs are similar to the adult track in offering individualized care and treatment, though there is a greater emphasis placed on education and early prevention.
In addition to the above treatment programs, Agassiz offers family and couples counseling, DUI evaluations, learning disability evaluations, couple’s counseling and therapy tailored for the specific needs of geriatric clients and young children (aged two and older).
Agassiz Associates does not offer an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), however its individualized care is ideal for clients who were previously enrolled in a residential program or who are looking for a place for continued care. Agassiz does not incorporate the 12-steps into their treatment program, so those seeking fellowship based on these principles of recovery should attend meeting in their own time. The caring and experienced staff provides personalized help to all clients at an affordable price.
