Agape Counseling and Human Services provides outpatient treatment in Indianapolis, Indiana for mental health and substance abuse. The facility employs highly certified counselors that offer treatment in the form of individual, family and couples therapy to clients of all ages. There are no substance abuse groups available at ACHS. Sessions are approached holistically in order to address clients on a physical, emotional and spiritual level.

Treatment and Staff

Those interested in treatment must first schedule an assessment, after which clients are assigned a primary counselor that best suits their needs. Each client works with their counselor to create an individualized treatment plan that identifies each person’s specific needs and goals. Counselors are available to meet for hour-long individual therapy sessions on certain days of the week. Counselors are open for appointments between 9 am to 7 pm. Though substance abuse groups are not available, clients can attend individual therapy several times a week if necessary.

Treatment modalities include CBT, DBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI). Therapy focuses on issues including depression, anxiety, addiction, PTSD, ADD, stress management, LGBT issues and work and career issues. Outside support groups such as AA/NA are encouraged but not required to complete the program. Medication management is not available on-site, though therapists can provide referrals to outside facilities if needed. For those only seeking couples or family therapy, licensed therapists specializing in marriage and family counseling are available as well.

Adolescents under the age of 16 are required to have written consent prior to treatment. A therapist with a specialty in child psychology leads their therapy sessions. Parents or legal guardians are encouraged to participate in family therapy with their children, though these sessions are not required. Topics include trauma, peer pressure, brain development, coping skills and anger management.

The Agape Counseling and Human Services staff consists of a highly qualified team of therapists. Some are child psychologists, certified marriage and family counselors, LCSWs and LADCs.

For those interested in personalized care, Agape Counseling and Humans Services is a viable option. Clients of all ages are treated by professionals with extensive experience dealing with a range of issues and age groups. In all, Agape is an affordable facility for those in the Indianapolis area.
