AfterPartyOver here at AfterParty, we receive an onslaught (okay, some) questions people have about addiction and recovery. While we aren’t in any way medical professions (emphasis on “aren’t in any way medical professionals”), we are sober folks who have not only grappled with some of the issues being asked about but have also written scads of articles for this very site on them. So here we are presenting our answers to you in our video series AfterParty Answers. Tune in every Wednesday to see what you, our faithful readers, want to know.

  1. Most people aren’t addicted to…name your addiction here, either. That’s what differentiates us from “normal” people. I know a lot of guys who have had their lives destroyed by pornography, just like I know lots of guys who have had their lives destroyed by alcohol. Some people can watch a lot of porn and not be addicted to it just like some people can drink a lot of alcohol and not be alcoholics. I will say this though, I do believe that excessive pornography does physically change your brain…but I have also heard this is the same for other addictions as well.

  2. most people are not addicted to prn, they just want instant gratification. What is normal? if this outlet didn’t exist 20 years ago, ergo at the touch of button you get to see anything you want.
