Affordable Talk Review
UK based Affordable Talk is an outpatient counseling clinic that has four different locations throughout London. The counselors at Affordable Talk are trained to address a number of issues including anxiety in all forms, depression, grief/loss, addiction, trauma or health problems. Treatment is provided through evidence-based best practices and available to individuals and couples.
Treatment and Staff
There are several staff members between the four office locations, all of which offer certain specialities. Incoming clientele have an initial intake where they detail why they are seeking counseling in the first place, and from there are placed with the therapist who is best suited to address their issues.
The therapists use an eclectic approach with their clients and guide them to a place of discovery during their treatment. Every client has an customized treatment plan that includes several different avenues that the client can explore in order to reach their counseling goals.
The sessions are usually around 50 minutes and within that time clients examine the underlying cause of their issues, whether it be a past trauma or stressor in their lives and learn helpful coping skills to help alleviate the feelings that have been bringing them down. Often times clients are also provided with stress reduction techniques learn how to identify triggers in their daily lives.
The staff of Affordable Talk have an array of different professional backgrounds and experiences. Common approaches they utilize include CBT, Gestalt, Person-Centered, Relational Psychodynamics, Solution Focused Therapy, and some expressive methods like art therapy. Staff includes Master’s-level psychologists and students who are currently finishing up their degrees, who are supervised by the senior staff members.
Extras
In some cases clients can receive therapy in Spanish, Greek and Portuguese. There are also opportunities for clients to receive counseling through Skype.
