Affiliated Counseling Center Review
Affiliated Counseling Center offers therapeutic care to adults and children for mental health and substance abuse issues in Fridley, Woodbury and Minneapolis, Minnesota. Using an individualized approach to recovery, clients with co-occurring issues such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, anti-social issues, anger, obsessive compulsion, grief and domestic violence can all find assistance here. All therapy sessions are conducted on an individual basis.
Treatment and Staff
Affiliated Counseling Center treats adults, teens and children, using traditional talk therapy to tackle the issues at hand. From substance abuse to mental and behavioral health, those with a wide range of afflictions can find help here. Structured outpatient programs are not offered; instead, clients are able to create their own schedules and work in a one-on-one setting with their assigned counselors. Referrals to detox, residential and outpatient programs can be made upon request.
All individual therapy sessions are an hour long and occur under the guidance of a licensed psychologist or intern. Using evidence-based therapies such as CBT and DBT, clients learn coping skills, communication skills and focus on relapse prevention. To start, it is suggested that clients attend treatment at least once a week, though more weekly sessions can always be added for those in need of additional support. After clients have gained more stability in their sobriety, sessions can be gradually reduced as needed. Most insurance companies are accepted and for those without insurance, a sliding fee scale is used.
Family therapy is also available for those who need it. These sessions address issues around codependency, communication and healthy boundaries. Couples counseling is also available. The cost for these one hour sessions are the same as individual therapy.
The staff includes licensed psychologists and interns. And although it is not officially 12-step affiliated, as a counseling center it’s flexible. So if clients want to work the steps with a counselor, that’s always an option.
In Summary
Though Affiliated Counseling Center does not offer more structured outpatient programs, the facility does allows clients to heal in privacy. Individual sessions delve deeply into the reasons underlying substance abuse, including treatment for a range of psychological issues. For those in search of a more flexible treatment option, this facility offers plenty of individualized care.
