Adventist Hinsdale Hospital New Day Center Review
The Adventist Hinsdale Hospital New Day Center is located in Westmont, a western suburb of Chicago in the top 1% of wealthiest towns in Illinois. The facility provides an outpatient program for substance abuse, which falls under the banner of the Amita Health Group, an Illinois-based care provider that pairs Adventist Midwest Health and the Alexian Brothers Health System. The New Day Center operates just five miles away from the Adventist Hinsdale Hospital and offers a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) as well as standard outpatient services.
Treatment and Staff
The PHP typically lasts four weeks and meets Monday through Friday from 8 am to 3 pm. There is also an outpatient program that meets Monday through Thursday from 6 to 9 pm. Days consist of group therapy and lectures, all of which are CBT oriented. An introduction to 12-step principles is also included, with clients required to attend off-site AA/NA meetings throughout the week and on weekends. During treatment, clients undergo random drug screenings, including urinalysis and breathalyzer tests.
The New Day Center does not offer a medical detox so those in need must take care of this phase of treatment at the hospital prior to beginning PHP or outpatient.
Staff is made up of CDACs who lead groups and lectures. There is no individual therapy but family sessions offered on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. The medical director, who is an physician, meets with clients up to three times a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. While there is no dual diagnosis support offered on-site, clients are referred to an outside psychiatrist, if needed.

During the initial assessment, clients are given a full medical screening including x-rays and lab work. Once primary care is complete, the facility offers an aftercare program comprised of group sessions one day a week, which can last for up to two years.
