Advanced Placement Behavioral Health and Human Services Review
Located in the cities of Augusta, Georgia and Greenville, South Carolina, Advanced Placement Behavioral Health and Human Services is a nationally accredited outpatient agency that offers a comprehensive range of services and support designed to address the physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs of clients and their families. Provisions include individual and group therapy, substance abuse counseling and community interaction, among many other offerings. Each client has an individualized treatment plan tailored to meet his or her unique needs.
Treatment and Staff
Before clients begin treatment, they go through Advanced Placement’s diagnostic assessment. These assessments are performed by LPCs who are clinically trained to understand and diagnose mental health issues. It uses an intensive interview process to begin understanding the problems clients are facing.
Advanced Placement offers three levels of therapeutic treatment: individual therapy, group therapy and substance abuse counseling.
In individual therapy, the number of sessions depends on the severity of the person’s addiction. Most clients attend individual sessions one to two times a week for an hour to focus on personal changes in attitude and behavior.
Advanced Placement’s group therapy functions under the foundation that no one lives in isolation and often problems that people face are shared obstacles with others. It also offers groups on various issues that are present in the lives of individuals.
Substance Abuse Counseling is guided by licensed counselors who are available to work with clients through their addiction issues associated with continued substance abuse.
It also offers In-Home Services, which are a time-limited mental health service for youth and their families. The goal of this service is to provide treatment in the least restrictive and most normative environment for the client.
Advanced Placement does not have detox and is not 12-step oriented but instead relies heavily on evidence-based practices.
It has a psychiatrist on staff through telemedicine and also offers dual diagnosis support.
Advanced Placement approximately has 20 staff members. Case managers carry 15 to 20 clients each. The staff has Licensed Chemical Dependency (LCD) techs and counselors working on their Masters in counseling and psychology.
In Summary
Advanced Placement Behavioral Health and Human Services is an outpatient facility that serves adolescents and adults and provides an array of treatment options between individual therapy, group therapy and substance abuse counseling. It is unique because it provides not only therapy at its locations but also goes to client’s homes or elsewhere in the community if it makes it easier for them.
