Advanced House Sober Living LLC Review
Founded in 2010, Advanced House Sober Living LLC is a luxury sober living home located in the Venice Beach neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. The organization was founded by Chris Rudd, who has himself been sober for several years. Rudd has worked at other sober livings and gained experience as a recovery worker through the Salvation Army. In addition to housing, the organization also partners with local therapists and life coaches to help residents develop personalized care plans.
Accommodations and Amenities
Advanced House Sober Living can host nine men in double rooms. Though rooms vary somewhat, all of them are spacious and include comfortable full beds, dressers, nightstands, desks, couches, love seats, TVs, and attached bathrooms.
The rest of the house features a gaming room with a 50-inch plasma TV; an office area with a fax machine, scanner and a printer; and a spacious kitchen and dining room area. There’s also a rooftop patio where residents can have views of the neighborhood and the beach, which is only six blocks from the house. The home provides fresh groceries for all clients though they are expected to prepare their own meals themselves.
Treatment and Staff
As with any sober home, residents must follow basic house rules and submit to regular and random drug tests which can be performed on-site. Participation in a 12-step program is required and all clients are expected to stay busy with outpatient treatment, school, a job or volunteer work. Residents must participate in all house activities while remaining in good standing with the staff and one another. Although the home doesn’t offer permanent housing, lengths of stay are flexible.
Extras
The staff also arranges for bi-monthly day trips to help clients stay entertained; residents are also required to plan house outings every weekend as well. Other house bonuses include a ping-pong table, Zen garden and a basketball court. As mentioned, those seeking additional help throughout the process can be paired with local sober coaches or individual therapists to help see them through the transition into sobriety. Staff members can help with discharge planning as well.
