Based out of Kansas City, Missouri, Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) is a residential treatment facility run by The Salvation Army. It provides treatment to both men and women but is primarily focused on clients who are homeless or low-income. Both court-ordered and self-referred clients are welcome.
Accommodations and Food
The ARC facility has a total of 130 beds. Residents sleep in shared, gender-specific rooms with basic accommodations. Rooms are set up dorm-style, with anywhere from two to eight beds in each. ARC provides bedding and clothing as necessary. Throughout their stay, residents are given three meals a day served cafeteria-style.
Treatment and Staff
Treatment begins with an initial assessment followed by a schedule of group and individual therapy that uses evidence-based practices, such as CBT and DBT, as well as AA/NA meetings. Work therapy is also part of treatment, wherein clients work at the organization’s thrift stores to gain life and employment skills.
The facility’s parent organization also provides emergency housing, education and therapy for at-risk children, as well as family therapy programs.
Overall, Adult Rehabilitation Center is a basic yet solid treatment program with flexible lengths of stay. Using a combination of evidence-based care, 12-step support and active employment, clients are provided with many of the tools they need to start rebuilding a sober and independent life. It should be noted that all Salvation Army programs are based in Christian values. For those who qualify, Adult Rehabilitation Center is a comprehensive and affordable option.
