Greenwich ConnecticutAddiction Recovery Center of Greenwich Hospital Review

The Addiction Recovery Center of Greenwich Hospital founded in 1903 in Greenwich, Connecticut, provides recovery services for adult men and women 18 and up. The facility offers short-term inpatient detox, Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) and basic outpatient services. The treatment offered through ARC is individualized and based on the 12 steps.

Treatment and Staff

All those seeking treatment at ARC go through an assessment process to determine which recovery program best suits their needs. For clients in need of medical detox, the facility offers a two- to four-day program. For clients struggling with opiate addiction, the facility offers an eight-week program with medication assisted treatment that uses Suboxone in addition to group therapy and psychoeducation. During this time, clients are monitored 24 hours a day by nursing staff and attend group therapy sessions. Once clients leave detox they can continue on to an outpatient program with day and evening programs to accommodate each client’s work and home life schedule.

Clients who have completed detox (or who do not require detox) may enroll in the IOP which meets four times a week for three hours at a time. Clients participate in group therapy and concurrently develop individualized post-treatment plans. The IOP usually lasts six weeks before clients step down to the basic outpatient track. Outpatient requires two group therapy sessions per week each lasting an hour and a half, with focus on coping skills and relapse prevention. In this phase, clients have the opportunity to work with peer counselors as well as program alumni.

Treatment is based on the 12 steps and the facility offers on-site AA/NA, Alateen and Alanon meetings once a week. Referrals are also available for clients who want to attend off-site community meetings. Therapists also use the Matrix Model and CBT during sessions. Individual therapy is available based on need and can take the place of group therapy sessions when necessary.

ARC also caters to those with co-occurring conditions, and medication management is available during and after treatment. The staff consists of experienced and caring therapists, counselors and nurses all overseen by a medical director who specializes in addiction. There are also psychiatrists and CADCs on staff.

Extras

A continuing care program that meets once a week for an hour and a half in a group therapy setting is available for clients who desire aftercare. Additionally, a family program is available which meets weekly in groups with multiple families. Meeting times are available either during the day or evenings.

In Summary

Addiction Recovery Center of Greenwich Hospital offers a range of recovery programs with a 12-step emphasis. Those with a dual diagnosis can also find the support they need here, as well as those looking for basic recovery support rather than intensive care. With medical detox, evidence-based therapy methods and both a family program and aftercare, clients find a continuum of care to help establish and maintain lasting sobriety.
