Author and comedian Bucky Sinister is not nearly as sinister as his name suggests/outright says (it’s not his real name, of course) (no, we have no idea what his real name is). The Bay Area-dwelling author of nine books, Sinister took the time to come by AP headquarters while in town. He first came to our attention because of his novel, Black Hole, which we excerpted here and are by the way complete obsessed with. A novel based on Sinister’s idea of what his life would have been like had he not gotten sober 14 years ago, Black Hole is a hilarious, disgusting ride through a San Francisco where excrement-covered addicts meet dot com billionaires (though Sinister was more a booze guy than a druggie, he does admit to doing meth and coke and Ecstasy when it was around). In this episode, we discuss being bad at scoring drugs, landing script deals in rehab and how surprising it was to not get in fistfights in sobriety, among many other topics.
