Addiction Canada Foothills Review
Set in a log chalet overlooking the foothills in Alberta, Canada, is the Addiction Canada Foothills location—a premiere residential substance abuse treatment facility for men and women. This facility offers detox services and client focused care that is holistic and comprehensive. Treatment modalities include a non 12-step method called ACE and CBT, psychoeducation and aftercare planning.
Accommodations and Food
The residence is nestled on 153 acres overlooking hills with hiking trails and a vast pond in a large luxury log cabin. The facility can accommodate up to 14 clients with the bedrooms being shared with one other client, with the exception of the detox facility that offers private bedrooms. Detox is separated from the residential program living quarters in order to provide privacy and comfort throughout the process. All the bedrooms have private bathrooms and big screen TV. This is a co-ed living space with up to six female clients and eight male clients under the same roof, though they sleep on opposite sides of the building.
The facility is very spacious and open, with hardwood flooring and large leather couches in the living rooms and multiple stone fireplaces. The exterior offers a wrap around porch and gazebos with fire pits. A state of the art kitchen with marble countertops and stainless steel appliances, dining room and meeting rooms complete the rest of the living quarters. A staff chef prepares healthy meals daily and is able to comply with any client’s specific dietary restrictions and requests.
Treatment and Staff
The treatment programs are designed on a 60 to 90 day track and the treatment offered at Addiction Canada is a solution based therapeutic method referred to as the Addiction Canada Empowerment (ACE) Program. This is designed to empower each individual client in their quest for sobriety by utilizing CBT approaches and education. The aim of this program is to arm the clients with the ability to heal themselves.
There are regular group sessions, though the number of client to therapist ratio is kept low in order to focus on the individual needs of each client. There is a strong emphasis on having clients identify triggers, striving for a healthier lifestyle all around. That includes repairing relationships that have been affected by addiction and reconnecting with loved ones. Other treatment methods include Motivational Interviewing (MI), conflict resolution and relapse prevention techniques.
Those with co-occurring disorders have access to medication management as well as regular check ins with the staff psychiatrist. The staff at the Foothills facility offers Master’s-level therapists, and some with over 25 years of working in the recovery field. A combination of medical and clinical staff includes RN’s, physician assistants, addiction specialists, massage therapists and Reiki healers.
Clients experience the picturesque surroundings by taking group hikes to a nearby waterfall, and enjoy regular exercise at the gym that includes a pool, sauna and track for running and fitness equipment. There is also on site yoga, Reiki and massage therapist and full time housekeeping services.
The aftercare program is incorporated into the cost of treatment, and there is a 100% treatment guarantee that if there is a relapse the client can return to the program free of charge.
The Addiction Canada Foothills location surrounds their clients with beauty and peace and offers a unique treatment perspective. With an emphasis on healing the whole person and not just the symptoms combined with the program guarantee, Addition Canada stands out as a great place to go for addiction treatment.
