Roseburg OregonADAPT Oregon: Crossroads Review

A local institution for 40 years, ADAPT Oregon offers both residential and outpatient treatment services for teens and adults in Douglas, Coos and Josephine County. The main treatment facility operates out of Roseburg, a small city of about 21,000 in the southeast corner of the state. ADAPT has an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and an adolescent IOP at their Roseburg location, outpatient facilities in Grant’s Pass and North Bend and a youth residential facility in Deer Creek. Their primary adult inpatient option is the Crossroads program, established in 1982.

Accommodations and Food

Residents at Crossroads are housed in a multi-unit single floor facility which can accommodate 27 at a time, though typically the number of clients is closer to 23. Everyone has a roommate and can expect twin beds and basic furnishings in each room with an attached bathroom. The facility also offers three hot meals a day prepared by an on-staff chef, served cafeteria-style with a focus on basic but nutritious options.

Treatment and Staff

The Crossroads program consists of individual and group therapy provided by LADCs with a focus on CBT and DBT. Each day of treatment typically runs from 8 am to 6 pm and the entire program lasts between 30 and 90 days, depending on individual needs. Crossroads keeps groups small, with seven to eight clients attending each session at a time. While they do not host on-site 12-step meetings, Crossroads does promote the AA/NA program of recovery and can provide information for and transportation to local meetings.

Because the facility has a psychiatrist on staff, dual-diagnosis support is available. Crossroads does offer a medical detox as well, with a medical doctor to assist in this procedure. In addition to their LADCs, they also employ a support staff of residential assistants.

Clients in the residential program at Crossroads can transition to one of ADAPT’s other programs after their initial stay. In addition to aforementioned therapy, other programs can address anger management, crisis intervention, female-specific issues, chronic pain, parenting issues, stress management, Christian counseling and DUI assessments.

Extras

Though residents focus primarily on treatment during their stay, Crossroads does offer weekend trips where clients can go on off-site excursions including hiking, bowling and swimming.

In addition to their focus on drug and alcohol recovery, Crossroads also offers group sessions to address gambling, chronic pain management and smoking cessation. There are also special programs for women with children.

In Summary

The ADAPT Crossroads program offers long term residential treatment with group and individual therapy, evidence-based care and a nod to 12-step recovery. Groups are kept small and a wide range of process addictions and other issues can be addressed, in addition to dual diagnosis support. The ADAPT brand also boasts 40 years of experience offering treatment. In all, ADAPT Crossroads provides a solid foundation for a lasting recovery.
