Action with Aloha LLC Review
Action with Aloha LLC is a behavioral health organization offering substance abuse treatment, counseling services and referrals to programs that support the Hawaiian community. With their home offices in Aiea, AWA provides a network of locations across the island of Oahu with branches in Pearl City, Ewa, Wahiawa, Honolulu and Makah.
The AWA substance abuse treatment program is strictly outpatient with a holistic and evidence-based approach to recovery.
Treatment and Staff
The substance abuse treatment program is available at all AWA branches and is intended for individuals who have already undergone detox, can support themselves financially but are still in need of a structured recovery program.
Potential clients undergo an initial assessment to determine the best way to move forward with their individualized treatment plan. CBT methods are used for individual, group and family counseling session. Group topics typically include relapse prevention, self-esteem building, chemical dependency education and trust building within relationships. AWA aims to help each person learn how to lead fulfilling and happy lives without using drugs or alcohol. One-on-one sessions are scheduled weekly and two-hour group sessions are held five days a week and the program lasts anywhere from 30 to 90 days, depending on each individual.
The staff at AWA consists of LCSWs, CSACs, and MFTs.

AWA implements a holistic approach throughout recovery and for most clients treatment includes mindfulness training, meditation, basic yoga and nutrition planning. AWA also offers relapse prevention programs and aftercare which consists of individual counseling once a month and group counseling once a week. Aftercare is managed on a case-by-case basis and can last anywhere from two months after treatment to a year.
AWA Behavioral Health services extends help to the community through programs outside of substance abuse treatment. Both individual and group counseling aimed at bettering oneself are available, as are 60-90 minute marriage or couples counseling sessions, consultations and DUI supportive services.
