Acqua Recovery Review
Acqua Recovery is a beautiful inpatient rehab facility in Midway, Utah. The average client is between the ages of 18 and 30, but Acqua Recovery welcomes anyone over the age of 18 struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. The facility’s holistic 30 to 90-day treatment addresses each person’s mental, physical and emotional needs.
Accommodations and Food
The 20-bed Acqua Recovery facility is set on 12 acres of land adjacent to Park City and 50 minutes from Salt Lake International Airport. The beautiful compound features a large Mediterranean-style main house and a smaller house connected by a paved walkway. The property has expansive lawns and a lakeside setting of mountains, streams and waterfalls. Though the majority of rooms are shared between two clients, some private accommodations are available. The decor is rustic chic and the ambiance is more upscale bed and breakfast than clinical. Bedrooms generally come with full or queen beds and comfortable furnishings, including side chairs, end tables and dressers. There is an on-site gym, hiking trails and archery range.
Clients can expect three healthy meals a day prepared by the staff and served in the sunny dining room. The menu is designed to facilitate physical and mental health. Ingredients are all organic, following a garden-to-grill philosophy, which involves clients in the on-site organic garden and culinary training programs. The residents learn about the connection between nutrition, lifestyle and addiction. Special dietary preferences and restrictions can be accommodated.
Treatment and Staff
Clients undergo a comprehensive assessment before beginning treatment. Those who need detox are referred to one of Acqua’s affiliates and return once they are medically stable. For clients with co-occurring disorders, specialized talk therapy with a psychiatrist and medication management are provided.
Residents attend daily group therapy that employs CBT and also have at least two to three individual sessions a week, in addition to family sessions if applicable. Psychoeducational classes, EMDR and relapse prevention classes are incorporated into the routine as well. The 12-step philosophy is implemented and clients are given the option to attend local AA/NA meetings. Transportation is provided.
Acqua employs a highly trained multidisciplinary team, which includes a medical doctor, an RN, CADCs, LCSWs, techs, a chef and admin support. Many of the staff are in recovery, which allows them to offer empathy to the clients.
Extras
Clients can take advantage of a wide range of holistic and recreational activities, like art therapy, meditative walks and daily exercise.
Every three weeks, Acqua hosts a family weekend at the facility. Loved ones attend to learn about the disease concept of addiction, trauma-informed care and healthy communication.
