Youth Care Treatment Center is treatment facility situated 30 miles north of Provo in the city of Draper, Utah. Youth Care specializes in the treatment of adolescent clients struggling with an array of conditions including mental illnesses, learning disorders, autism and co-occurring substance use disorders such as alcohol, marijuana and opioids. One of the CARF and Joint Commission-accredited Acadia Healthcare’s facilities, Youth Care offers a residential program and a comprehensive PHP and IOP plans tailored to meet the unique needs and goals of the individual. The 12-step recovery model is available for clients with co-occurring substance use disorders. Treatment and Staff
Before starting treatment, clients go through an extensive evaluation that includes a medical exam, psychological assessment, an account of substance and an academic component. From there, the team designs the most effective possible individualized treatment program tailored to meet the unique needs and goals of the person. Upon admission, students immediately being working with the Youth Care team to develop a discharge plan.
Youth Care offers a comprehensive PHP ideal for individuals either transitioning out of the residential program or for clients in need of a consistent therapeutic structure but who cannot commit to inpatient. PHP runs seven days a week and typically lasts between four and five months. Clients benefit from consistent therapy without having to spend the night away from home. From there, many individuals transition into the less strenuous IOP program that typically runs six weeks from 9 am to 5 pm on weekdays.
Youth Care provides a multi-layered approach to care that synchronizes a number of therapeutic methods including evidence-based models, experiential therapies, 12-step and academics. Clients engage in bi-weekly individual and group therapy with therapists trained in CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing and EMDR for trauma. The facility also offers process groups that focus on substance use, recreation, coping strategies and communication skills. Biofeedback is also available to teach individuals how to control normally involuntary body functions like heart rate and muscle tension. Individuals also participate in 12-step support meetings.
The multidisciplinary team consists of nurses, medical techs, teachers, physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists and counselors. Clients with mental health conditions receive medication management and medical services.
Youth Care offers holistic practices like meditation, yoga, music and pet therapy. Family therapy is also an integral aspect of the curriculum. Clients engage in weekly therapy sessions with their parents to help strengthen the family bond and improve communication and boundaries.
Youth Care offers animal-assisted therapy as a complementary method to facilitate healing.
