Acadia: Twelve Oaks Treatment Center Outpatient Review
Since 1983, Twelve Oaks Treatment Center has been serving the Navarre, Florida community. Apart from residential treatment, it also offers outpatient substance abuse treatment with two tracks—a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)—both of which provide clients with treatment, education and support to combat addiction to drugs and/or alcohol. Those enrolled in the outpatient programs participate in treatment while continuing with their everyday lives and attending regular 12-step meetings.
As a member of the Acadia Healthcare network, the Twelve Oaks Treatment Center is just one of many behavioral health facilities providing chemical dependency and therapeutic support. With its headquarters in Franklin, Tennessee, Acadia serves communities across the US and in the UK with inpatient, outpatient and school-based treatment programs.
Treatment and Staff
Mornings are reserved for clients to attend group therapy and in the afternoons, clients attend book lectures, alumni-led meetings and recreational therapies. The typical length of the PHP program is 30 days, with treatment running six hours each day. Those PHP clients who wish to have an intensive treatment experience are invited to stay in the residential accommodations.
Treatment modalities include CBT, DBT, REBT and brief solution-focused therapy. Twelve Oaks also provides dual diagnosis support and treatment for PTSD. Clients are expected to take part in at least one individual session per week. Apart from attending AA/NA meetings clients also take anger management classes, work on relapse prevention and their communication skills, as well as conflict resolution. Further therapeutic activities include family therapy, exercise and recreation. Experiential therapies include: play and art therapy, guided imagery, psychodrama and a R.O.P.E.S. course.
The IOP option runs eight weeks, meeting Monday through Friday from 9 am to 2:30 pm. Clients typically attend sessions at least three days a week. Clients are expected to also find peer support at outside 12-step meetings.
Twelve Oaks employs Master’s-level therapists, Licensed Substance Abuse Counselors (LSACs) and registered nurses.
Extras
PHP clients living on campus can take trips to the beach and other social outings. The program also offers weekly alumni groups, ongoing alumni activities (like guest speaker lectures) and quarterly events.
