Located in the Western Washington suburb of Lakewood, Washington, Tacoma Comprehensive Treatment Center is an outpatient, program that provides Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for individuals dealing with opioid addiction. In addition to treating the physical aspects of addiction and recovery, clients also attend basic-outpatient level therapeutic sessions.
In order to qualify for treatment at Tacoma CTC, individuals must be 18 or older, be opioid dependent for at least a year and be in a state of withdrawal for at least 20 to 24 hours.
As a member of the Acadia Healthcare network, Tacoma CTC is just one of many behavioral health facilities providing chemical dependency and therapeutic support. With its headquarters in Franklin, Tennessee, Acadia serves communities across the country and in the UK with residential, outpatient and school-based treatment programs.
Treatment and Staff
Tacoma CTC provides MAT in tandem with group and individual therapy. Medication options are methadone and Subutex, which are prescribed based on each client’s unique medical history and acuity. Medications can be adjusted throughout the treatment process depending on the client’s reactions and progress. Mandatory individual counseling is conducted once a week, but can be increased dependent upon the client’s individualized treatment plan. Group therapy is attended a minimum of twice a month.
The program provides detox for a minimum of six months, but is unable to provide dual diagnosis support. Treatment is 12-step based and clients are encouraged to find and attend community NA meetings to develop a peer support network.
Tacoma CTC has a team of physicians, nurses and Substance Abuse Counselors (SACs), individuals with Bachelor and Masters-level credentials as well as Chemical Dependency Professionals (CDPs). There are eight counselors and typically 400 clients enrolled in treatment at any given time.
Tacoma Comprehensive Treatment Center is a facility that combines MAT with individual and group therapy for persons struggling with opioid addiction. With each client given a unique treatment plan tailored to their needs, Tacoma CTC aims to treat the physical, emotional and mental aspects of opioid addiction and recovery.
