Kelso Treatment Solutions Review
Acadia’s Kelso Treatment Solutions is an opioid treatment facility in Kelso, Washington. It’s essentially a methadone clinic offering outpatient care for adults. Treatment includes medication assisted treatment (MAT), individual and group therapy. Clients receive individualized treatment plans that are comprised of life skills that help clients achieve long term recovery. This program offers dual diagnosis support and a long lasting respite from cravings and withdrawal symptoms of adults who are consumed by their opioid addiction.
Treatment and Staff
Men and women who come to Kelso for treatment have to be at least 18 years of age, and have been using opioids for a minimum of a year. Before being able to receive any medications every client has to be in withdrawal for at least 20 hours.
After the assessment process that includes a full physical, and psychological evaluation, clients are presented with their treatment and medication plan. Medications offered at Kelso are Methadone, Subutex or Suboxone. Depending on each client’s needs, the dosage amount varies between clients, and in some cases medications may be altered or switched during treatment.
Clients attend individual and group therapy based upon need. Individual sessions focus on client’s experience in the program and work on creative ways of coping with triggers, examining past experiences that may have contributed to using opioids in the first place, and developing new ways to handle overwhelming emotions without having to use drugs.
Group therapy provides a sense of commonality amongst clients and give them an opportunity to work on communication, discuss the complexities of the disease of addiction, and learn self advocacy skills along with conflict resolution.
This program is operated by a medical director, a nursing staff and addiction counselors.
Extras
In addition to treatment, clients receive a number of resources and referrals to AA, NA, HA, SMART Recovery and Celebrate Recovery meetings throughout the community. There are also resources extended for family members and loved ones of clients through Al-Anon and Families Against Narcotics.
