Haverhill Pavilion Review
Acadia’s Haverhill Pavilion is a behavioral health inpatient facility located in Haverhill, Massachusetts. Treatment is for adults 19 and older. There is an adult program and an older adult programs. This facility caters to clients who are in need of stabilization from a mental health crisis, thus the stay is usually short term. Treatment utilizes evidence-based protocols along with age appropriate approaches that treat a variety of behavioral health concerns, including addiction and substance abuse.
Accommodations and Food
The hospital is a 71 bed facility. The residential units are divided into three separate buildings. The free standing, private campus offers semi-private accommodations in twin beds, and depending on the unit, the beds are certified hospital beds. There are also sensory rooms in each unit, a pharmacy on site, and a private courtyard in the center of the campus. Clients also have access to the workout room
The staff nutritionist designs the clients meals, and the menus can be adjusted according to dietary restrictions. Meals are eaten in the campus cafeteria. There are a couple of choices per meal times set out, and snacks are readily available.
Treatment and Staff
Treatment at Haverhill is customized to accommodate clients’ needs. Treatment may include a combination of medication management, medical care, recreational based therapy, occupational therapy, group therapy, and individual therapy. The average length of stay in treatment is about a week long, though there are options for clients to remain in treatment at the facility if needed.
There are several different approaches and activities that are used on every level of care. Therapeutic approaches include CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET). Co-occurring disorder clients who also have a substance abuse issue also follow 12-step principles during their programs.
Individual therapy is typically on an as needed basis. Clients attend group sessions during the day. Topics cover a range of issues including coping strategies, communication skills, goal setting, life skills, identifying patterns in behaviors, medication education, and positive thinking.
Staff includes board certified psychiatrists and psychiatric nurses, medical doctors, nutritionists, LCSWs, LMHCs, LICSWs, occupational therapists, and psychologists.

Family therapy is offered on an as needed basis.

Haverhill Pavilion offers different approaches to suit not only the issue that the client is dealing with, but also their age groups. The care is person centered and works on building an array of life skills, in addition to treating each and every individual in the program with dignity and respect.
