Greenleaf Adult Inpatient Program Review
Greenleaf Behavioral Health Hospital is a dual diagnosis and mental health facility that operates through the Acadia network. The adult inpatient program offers acute services that are individualized. Clients attend individual and group therapy, and receive medication management as part of their customized programs. In addition to inpatient treatment for adults, there are detox and outpatient levels of care available as well.
Accommodations and Food
Greenleaf is a 103 bed hospital, with all bedrooms being double occupancy. The rooms are furnished with twin beds and nightstands. The facility itself is cheerful and bright, with several common areas that have comfortable sitting areas. The clients are divided on separate wings of the hospitals according to their age. Same gender clients share bedrooms. The grounds contain a swimming pool and gazebo, as well as a fairly large gym with machines and weights.
There is a cafeteria on site that serves three meals per day. All the food is prepared by kitchen staff.
Treatment and Staff
The adult program offers inpatient detox and residential care for those who are struggling with acute mental illness or have a co-occurring disorder. Clients who are in the psychiatric program attend mandatory group therapy throughout the day. Individual therapy is offered, though not a requirement. The substance abuse track, however, incorporates regular individual sessions in addition to the daily group meetings. There are also on site AA/NA meetings held frequently.
Groups address relapse prevention, coping skills, identifying and dealing with triggers and managing emotions. There is also assertiveness training and medication management. There is a focus for dual diagnosis clients zero in on the underlying causes of their substance abuse. In conjunction with treatment, clients can expect psychoeducation, and to attend classes and lectures.
Treatment approaches include CBT, DBT, experiential and recreational therapies.
The staff is comprised of medical doctors and psychiatric nurses along with LPC, LCSW and behavioral health techs.
Extras
Family therapy is offered for all levels of adult care.
While clients don’t leave the grounds during their treatment, there are opportunities for art and crafts, and to watch TV or movies during their free time. There is also a smoking cessation program offered.
In Summary
The adult inpatient program here aims to provide wraparound treatment service in a safe and private atmosphere. There are options for some of the therapeutic activities that clients can participate in, and family involvement is encouraged. This is a very individualized treatment plan that includes different elements with the goal that every client leaves the facility with a strong set of coping skills.
