Greenleaf Adolescent Inpatient Review
Acadia’s Greenleaf Behavioral Health Hospital in Valdosta, Georgia, is a comprehensive treatment facility that offers a number of mental health and dual diagnosis programming options for adults and adolescents. The adolescent inpatient track is for clients between the ages of 12 and 17. This program treats a variety of behavioral health concerns, including substance abuse. Young people in this program receive individualized care and extensive aftercare planning packages. Throughout treatment clients attend therapy sessions, and have access to medication management. These programs include evidence-based protocols, recreational therapy and the 12 steps.
Accommodations and Food
There are 103 beds in the hospital, with about a third of them reserved for adolescent clients. While this is a hospital, the residential quarters are home-like, spacious and comfortable. The bedrooms are all double occupancy and simply furnished with twin beds, night stands and a shared dresser. The adolescent clients are situated on separate sides of the facility than the adults, with the groups divided into mental health and dual diagnosis programs.
The campus has several outdoor seating areas that are sometimes used for group therapy, and a gymnasium. There is also a workout center on the grounds, a swimming pool and chapel.
The adolescent clients have their three meals a day in the cafeteria. All of the food is prepared on site by kitchen staff.
Treatment and Staff
There is a detox program available for those who need it upon admission. Depending on their needs, clients may detox for up to seven days. Clients are assigned to a therapist who develops their treatment plan, and holds individual therapy sessions as needed.
There are several group therapy sessions per day. Groups address common issues that adolescents who are struggling with mental health disorders or addiction face. This includes coping skills, boundaries, self esteem and image, self harm and more. Acadia is also associated with The Jason Foundation, which is a program that focuses on suicide prevention in teens.
There are on-site AA/NA meetings. Therapeutic approaches include CBT, DBT, Emotionally Focused and trauma informed. Clients meet with staff for medication management on a regular basis.
The staff is comprised of LPCs, LCSWs, psychiatrists, medication doctors and nurses. The facility is staffed around the clock.
Extras
There is a step-down outpatient track for adolescents available. In addition, there are family therapy services provided upon request.

Acadia’s Greenleaf adolescent program provides individualized care for young people experiencing mental health issues. The facility is comfortable and clients are treated with respect. While in the program, adolescent clients are learning new life and coping skills in preparation to return home with a sense of independence.
