In the middle of Elkton in Maryland, the Elkton Comprehensive Treatment Center provides individualized treatment for adults struggling with opioid addiction. Through medication and therapeutic activities, clients work towards recovery under the supervision of experienced clinical staff members. Treatment at Elkton CTC is outpatient based and flexible making treatment accessible to clients’ schedules.
As a member of the Acadia Healthcare network, Elkton Comprehensive Treatment Center is just one of many behavioral health facilities providing chemical dependency and therapeutic support. With its headquarters in Franklin, Tennessee, Acadia serves communities across the country and in the UK with residential, outpatient and school-based treatment programs.
Treatment and Staff
The Elkton facility provides three different types of medication based on an intake assessment. Methadone, Suboxone and Subutex are available for prescription based on the client’s health history and need for symptom relief. Detox and withdrawal symptom relief are managed through the Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) track and monitored by the medical staff. The physician on staff and nurses may adjust the dosage at any time to better suit the client as they recover.
The facility is open Monday through Friday from 5:30 am to 12:30 pm. Saturday hours are from 5:30 to 9:30 am and the location is closed on Sunday.
During the clinic hours, clients may also attend group or individual therapy to support mental and emotional recovery. Groups and individual sessions are conducted by CADCs and clients are encouraged to attend to develop a recovery support network with other clients and to process emotions that are not treatable with the medication. Relapse prevention skills are taught as well as positive coping skills. If clients are unable to attend the groups, they are encouraged to attend 12-step meetings for recovery support.
While the Elkton facility has a limited scope of treatment, referrals can be made for clients in need of housing or other community resources. The treatment staff also have connections with more intensive treatment options, and facilitate transfers upon request.
The Elkton Comprehensive Treatment Center provides MAT combined with therapeutic interventions. Clients are given an individualized program that suits their schedule and needs to help cope with withdrawal symptoms. With an experienced staff and careful planning, clients can be free from opioid abuse and get back to living without the pain of active addiction.
