Located in the heart of Pittsburgh by Highland Park and the Allegheny River, Discovery House Comprehensive Treatment Center of Pittsburgh serves the local community in need of chemical dependency treatment for opioid addiction. As an outpatient program for adults, DHCTC specializes in detoxing clients with minimal discomfort using Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) and therapeutic activities. Each client is treated on an individual basis with care and compassion.

Treatment and Staff
Treatment methods at Discovery House CTC of Pittsburgh are centered around MAT for opioid dependence. Before admission, all clients go through a screening process to determine the ideal medication for them and any other resources that may be needed. Depending on their screening, clients may be prescribed Suboxone, Methadone or Subutex. Medications can be adjusted over time to best suit the client as they progress in recovery. Clients are seen by Physicians and Nurses for adjustments and handling other health concerns. Dosing hours are from 5:30 to 11:30 am Monday through Friday and from 6 to 8:45 am on weekends. Holiday hours are from 6 to 8 am. The office is not open on Sundays.
In addition to medication, clients are strongly urged to attend recovery-focused group therapy. Groups help to bring the clients together through evidence-based treatment such as CBT and are facilitated by CADCs who have experience with the specific issues that opioid addicts face. If the client is not comfortable with attending groups, they may schedule individual therapy during available times (after dosing hours from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm and on Saturdays from 6 to 9 am). If clients are unable to make it to these sessions, they are strongly urged to attend 12-step meetings to supplement their recovery.
Extras
DHCTC is so specialized that there are not many extras to speak of, but as part of the Arcadia Healthcare network, clients have access to many resources outside of the scope of practice. While this treatment is likely the first stop, clients are encouraged to continue their recovery process through meetings or seeking more intensive treatment after they have stabilized.
