Acadia Cleveland Review
The Cleveland, Ohio branch of Acadia’s Comprehensive Treatment Centers is an outpatient clinic for adults addicted to opioids. This facility provides Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) in the form of methadone, Suboxone, Subutex and Vivitrol. Combined with these protocols is individual and group therapy. Acadia is a CARF accredited network of care centers with three locations in the Ohio area.
Treatment and Staff
Before clients begin their assessment process at the Cleveland facility, there is a small list of criteria they are required to meet. One is that every individual seeking this treatment needs to have a history of opioid addiction for more than one year. Secondly, they have to enter into the program in the beginning stages of withdrawal. This applies to all potential clients with the exception of pregnant women.
The intake process takes up to four hours. During this time clients submit to several physical test, and undergo a psychological evaluation. At the end of the day every client is presented with an personalized treatment plan that will include one of the medications, and a schedule for therapy.
The Cleveland clinic is open from 5:30 to 9:30 am Monday through Friday, and 6 to 9 am on Saturdays for medications, and from 6 am to 2:30 pm five days a week for assessments and therapeutic services. There are weekly group and individual sessions too. The group sessions are kept fairly small in number and are led by a certified addiction therapist. Individual therapy is usually twice a month at the office. These sessions explore clients usage history, past traumas or events that may have contributed to the addiction, and how to manage their cravings and emotions while recovering from opioids.
The therapeutic aspect of treatment at the Cleveland facility uses evidence-based approaches. This can include CBT and DBT methods. There is also an encouragement for clients to join the 12-step community and attend regular meetings along with the MAT and therapy they receive at the clinic.
Staff of this location includes addiction specialists who are medical doctors, nurses and CADC.
