Treatment and Staff
Prospective clients are pre-screened over the phone. If they’re suitable for treatment, they come to the clinic for an in-person assessment. After clients are assessed, they and the treatment team decide which course of MAT they’re best-suited for: methadone or Subutex. Clients then receive a dosing schedule which includes a plan for applying for take-home doses once they’ve successfully participated in several weeks of treatment.
Clients meet with a counselor for individual sessions at least once a month. They’re also asked to attend group therapy at least once a week. Claymont CTC’s treatment team is made up of physicians, nurses and CADCs. Counselors use CBT in group therapy to explore topics which include mental health and addiction, handling triggers and relapse prevention. Counselors address co-occurring disorders in individual and group therapy but refer clients in need of comprehensive dual diagnosis support to nearby mental health clinics. Claymont encourages clients to attend NA or other peer support meetings in the community.
Claymont CTC hopes that all of its clients will eventually not need MAT, and it works with them to create a treatment plan that culminates in tapering. However, clients are not pressured to taper on any set time-line.
For over a decade, Claymont Comprehensive Treatment Center has provided clients MAT for opiate addiction. With weekly therapy groups that use CBT to help clients manage triggers and prevent relapse, Claymont CTC clients can gain new life skills and self-knowledge while receiving supervised long-term MAT.
