Acadia: Cascade Behavioral Health Outpatient Review
Cascade Behavioral Health is located in Tukwila, Washington, a suburb 10 miles outside of Seattle. Cascade offers detox, residential and outpatient treatment for substance abuse, in addition to treatment for mental health disorders and behavioral and memory issues. Its residential program has been in operation for three years, and the outpatient program opened in April of 2016. Outpatient treatment is offered at the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and standard outpatient levels of care.
Cascade’s medical director is Gregory Rudolf, M.D., one of a handful of addictionologists in Washington state. Cascade Behavioral Health is a member of the Acadia provider network, which operates a number of treatment facilities throughout the US and the United Kingdom.
Treatment and Staff
PHP clients attend group therapy each weekday from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm. They also have individual therapy once a week. IOP clients attend group therapy three days a week, on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 am to 12 pm or 6 to 9 pm. They also have individual therapy once a week. Both treatment tracks last approximately eight weeks. After completing their IOP treatment plan, clients can attend a weekly relapse prevention group for three to six months.
CBH’s treatment team includes physicians, nurses, LADCs and Master’s-level therapists, all of whom are experienced in treating co-occurring disorders and are licensed to provide therapy and medication-management for mild and severe mental health disorders. Therapy incorporates evidence-based methods including CBT, DBT and the 12-step framework. Clients are required to attend at least two sober support meetings each week, such as AA/NA, SMART Recovery or Celebrate Recovery.
Extras
CBH is a family-centered treatment program. It offers family support and education groups and encourages participation in family therapy. CBH also offers DUI classes. It has an active alumni group called “Magic Works” that connects alumni for additional peer support and inspiration.

While a relatively new addition to the Seattle-area recovery community, Cascade Behavioral Health has an experienced treatment team that is led by one of the area’s few addictionologists, Dr. Gregory Rudolf. With three levels of outpatient care and an alumni program, Cascade Behavioral Health is able to provide its clients with flexible, on-going support as they tackle new challenges in recovery.
