Bradford Recovery Center of Millford, Pennsylvania is one of many treatment facilities that make up the Acadia network of care centers around the country. It is an addiction and dual diagnosis treatment facility that provides detox and residential services. These programs are for adults and use evidence-based treatment approaches. Accommodations and Food
Bradford’s campus is about 15 miles outside of the New York border. The facility is situated in a peaceful and quiet neighborhood with little distraction, surrounded by the Northern Pennsylvania mountains.
The residential facility offers luxury accommodations within a medical setting. Clients sleep in bedrooms that are shared between two and four, some of which have en suite bathrooms. There is also an industrial sized kitchen that is connected to the cafeteria, where clients enjoy their three meals a day and snacks.
Treatment and Staff
Bradford’s detox is in a non-hospital setting. During the three to five day detox clients are monitored 24 hours a day by a full medical team. While in detox clients are able to participate in some of the therapeutic aspects of the program if they are feeling well enough.
Once detox is completed clients move into the 28 day residential track. The residential stage of treatment consists of up to seven groups per day, with three groups running at any given time. Group topics and approaches range from relapse prevention, didactic therapy, personal goals, anger management, Motivational Interviewing (MI), psychoeducation and the Seeking Safety model. In addition to group therapy, there are individual sessions and medication management services.
The detox and residential programs are operated by medical doctors, nurses, psychiatrists, LPC and psychologists.
Extras
It’s worth noting, there is a wide array of additional treatment services. Clients enjoy a yoga studio, recreation room, arts and crafts area, music and art therapy, guided meditation and massage.
Experiential therapies include group sports, volleyball, kickball, team building exercises, a laughter group and a Fun in Recovery group.
The family program includes weekly visits with counseling and education for family members who are 15 and older. It covers codependency, enabling, self care and more.
Aftercare planning is available before the end of the residential stay. Aftercare includes helping to establish where the local 12-step meetings are for clients and their families.
Finally, there are monthly alumni meetings. These often involve events like ice skating, movie nights, bowling and hiking.
