blytheville arkansasAcadia: Ascent Blytheville Day Treatment and Outpatient Clinic Review

Ascent is a community-based network of mental health and developmental support facilities under the Acadia Healthcare umbrella. With locations throughout Arkansas, Ascent started in 1988 as a single clinic and over the decades has expanded to 10 branches serving children, adolescents and their families. The Blytheville location offers outpatient developmental, behavioral and mental health treatment for substance abuse and co-occurring disorders.

As a member of the Acadia Healthcare network, Ascent facilities are included among the many behavioral health facilities providing chemical dependency and therapeutic support. With its headquarters in Franklin, Tennessee, Acadia serves communities across the country and the UK with inpatient, residential, outpatient and school-based treatment programs. All of the facilities are CARF-accredited.

Treatment and Staff

Before being admitted to Blytheville, all clients are seen for a bio-psycho-social assessment to determine the level of care needed and to ensure that the clients will thrive in an outpatient setting. Treatment is scheduled after school hours so that clients can still attend. Ancillary school programs are also available to help support the clients in their studies. An individualized treatment approach ensures that each client has their own unique experience with treatment and healing.

Substance abuse treatment is typically facilitated through group therapy and utilizes evidence based treatment methods—primarily CBT. Each group typically lasts for one hour and helps clients to process issues together on a group level. Groups are conducted by psychotherapists who have experience working with youth and focus on peer pressure, learning healthy coping skills and relapse prevention.

In addition to groups, clients attend individual therapy with their primary therapist. Blytheville offers dual diagnosis support, with special services for those with severe issues or mental impairment. Most clients also attend family therapy, as the family unit is pivotal in helping a client work through deep issues that may be exacerbated by their substance abuse issues.

Some clients may also be referred to young people’s 12-step meetings if it is determined beneficial and are also encouraged to seek outside support through church and sober support groups.

Blytheville also provides care for mild to severe mental disabilities. Doctors and a medical staff see clients regularly to address these concerns. Medication management is available for clients that have additional mental health diagnoses. Physical, speech and occupational therapy services are available for all clients.

Extras

In addition to traditional therapy, Blytheville also offers alternative methods of treatment including play and art therapy. Recreational therapies are also available including games, physical team-building and outdoor activities are part of the process. These experiential therapies offer additional sources of healing for children and young adults who are working through co-occurring trauma and substance abuse.

In the event that the client also has developmental issues, they may be seen for occupational, speech and other support therapies.

In Summary

Blytheville Day Treatment and Outpatient Clinic is an Ascent network facility offering substance abuse and mental health treatment. Services are focused around providing for children and youth struggling with developmental and behavioral issues. Treatment combines evidence based and alternative therapies and the young clients are encouraged to find peer support groups.
