Treatment and Staff
Prior to enrollment, all clients are seen by the intake staff for a bio-psycho-social assessment which determines the needs of the client including medication, dual diagnosis support and health status. After the client is admitted, clients are seen by a case manager to create an individualized treatment plan. Clients are regularly seen by psychiatrists, medical doctors and nursing staff who specialize in assisting youth.
Substance abuse treatment is typically facilitated through group therapy that uses CBT techniques. Groups focus on development of new coping skills so clients are less likely to turn to drugs. Individual therapy with a primary therapist is also an essential part of the program, as is working with the family unit in groups. The family therapy component is essential since the clientele are so young, and therapists work with the family to undo poor communication skills and habits of enabling.
If it is deemed appropriate, some clients may be encouraged to attend 12-step meetings. If the client and their family are uncomfortable with attending 12-step, they may be referred to other resources for community and peer support.
Extras
Play and art therapy are utilized to access different forms of healing for clients. These alternative methods may be used in both group and individual therapy. In the event that clients have developmental issues, they may be treated for occupational, speech and other therapy.
