A and M Recovery Review
A and M Recovery offers Christian faith-based outpatient substance abuse treatment in Springfield, Missouri. They are located near Walmart in the South Campbell strip mall along with Sheid’s Pizza. A and M was founded in 2010 by Alice Mary, member of the community who is in recovery.
Treatment and Staff
On-site screenings are performed in person Wednesday through Friday from 9 am to 3 pm. A and M offers an approach to recovery that addresses the physical, emotional, social and spiritual issues brought on by substance abuse. The treatment philosophy at A and M is grounded in four steps of treatment: changing behaviors, relapse prevention, severing all ties to one’s old life and actively seeking support through AA/NA, Celebrate Recovery or church involvement. Dual diagnosis support is available to individuals with co-occurring disorders.
A and M’s outpatient program runs for 16 weeks. Participants attend two hour group therapy meetings twice a week. During the first eight weeks each person attends one hour-long individual session. Clients discuss cravings, dependency and causes and effects of substance abuse. Other topics include alcohol and drug education, life skills, coping skills, maintaining relationships and personal boundaries. Random drug screenings are used to build and maintain personal accountability for recovery and continued sobriety.
A and M staff counselors are state-certified and accredited with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in substance abuse counseling, social work, and family counseling. The staff-to-client ratio is one-to-five.
Extras
Family members may participate in treatment at A and M through the Family Enrichment portion of the outpatient program. Family members learn the warning signs of relapse, an understanding of the causes of substance abuse and how to rebuild relationships with those in treatment.
A and M works also with criminal justice offenders who are court-ordered to attend treatment.
