phoenix-center-bhsThe Basics

The Phoenix Center Behavioral Health Services was created in 1970 by the Georgia General Assembly to provide state residents mental health and substance abuse treatment. The CARF-accredited facility offers outpatient mental health and substance abuse services as well as crisis stabilization. It also operates the TANF Ready for Work Residential Program, a residential treatment program for chemically-dependent women and their children.

Phoenix Center is located in Warner Robins, Georgia, and serves residents of Houston, Peach and Crawford counties. However, residents of other counties may attend treatment, as well.

Treatment and Staff

Treatment at Phoenix Center is offered at the standard outpatient level of care. Clients can come to the center at 7:30am Monday through Friday for a walk-in intake session. After their intake, clients receive a treatment plan that includes group therapy, usually twice a week for 16 to 18 weeks. Individual therapy is scheduled as-needed.

Groups are led by MFTs, LPCs and LCSWs who use CBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI) and share information about the disease model of addiction, relapse prevention and coping skills.

The treatment team encourages clients to attend 12-step or other peer support meetings. Dual diagnosis support is provided for clients with co-occurring disorders, and Phoenix Center is experienced in stabilizing and offering on-going care to clients with acute mental illness.

Extras

For aftercare, the treatment team creates a plan for each client that may include on-going therapy, peer support meetings and/or referrals to other state and local programs. Phoenix Center has a Family Support Services program to provide resources for at-risk families and services for residents with developmental disabilities.

In Summary

Since 1970, The Phoenix Center for Behavioral Health has been providing extensive substance abuse and mental health treatment to the residents of middle Georgia. With dual-diagnosis capabilities and comprehensive family services, The Phoenix Center is able to help clients create a resilient support network as they face the challenges of recovery.
