The 411 on Fentanyl

Though it doesn’t sound like the heroin that killed Philip Seymour Hoffman was from the batch of fentanyl-laced heroin that killed 22 in Pennsylvania, I guess it’s a good thing (if you can call any of this a “good thing”) that people are writing about a terrifying drug that doesn’t get as much play in the press as Oxycontin or heroin or cocaine or pot.

More on Fentanyl

Months ago, we ran an excerpt from Painkiller Addict, a gripping memoir about fentanyl addiction that came out last year, and I definitely recommend the book to anyone curious in finding out more about it. And at The Fix, I edited an essay written by a former fentanyl patch addict, where she described the high as “feeling like God is giving you a big warm hug with pillows for arms” but the addiction as brutal. Read the piece here; it’s a good one.
