With two locations in Arizona, Gilbert and Phoenix, 2nd Chance Treatment Center is an outpatient treatment facility that provides behavioral healthcare and medication services for adults suffering from substance abuse. Treatment is offered to those who are struggling with opioids and alcohol addiction and is provided in a safe and caring place where clients are able to take their programming at their own pace. 2nd Chance prides itself on providing affordable and convenient services, and on being the first clinic of its kind in Arizona.
Treatment and Staff
Both the Phoenix and Gilbert locations are full service clinics with in house laboratories and treatment tracks for addiction and dual diagnosis clients. The purpose behind the comprehensive programming at 2nd Chance is to offer inpatient care at an outpatient level. There are Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) options along with medication management services. MAT for opioid such as Suboxone and Vivitrol require frequent visits to the facility for six to 18 months. Vivitrol, Acamprosate and medications like Topamax are sometimes prescribed for alcohol addiction. During every doctor’s visit clients receive a drug screen to make sure they’re remaining clean in between their medications. Clients also receive counseling from the attending provider. The counseling incorporates relapse prevention tips and psychoeducation regarding addiction and its lasting effects. Therapy is evidence-based and includes Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET). Counseling addresses past trauma issues or experiences that may have led to the client’s usage and is provided in a safe and non-judgmental environment. Treatment at 2nd Chance isn’t based on the 12 steps, but rather a medical and behavioral therapy philosophy, though it does offer resources and encourages clients to seek out a support community through the 12 steps, SMART Recovery or Celebrate Recovery if the client expresses a desire to attend these types of meetings.
2nd Chance is headed up by Doctors Ashwin Reddy and Michael Dekker, who are both board certified doctors of psychiatry with a long list of accomplishments and experiences working in the field of addiction, particularly in opioid and alcohol addiction. There is also a Master’s-level clinical psychologists on staff along with an psychiatric nurse practitioner.
