11th Step House Review
Based out of Asheville, North Carolina, 11th Step House is an intimate, community-oriented sober living facility for women. The home is run by a team of sober women, one of whom is a CSAC, who have more than 48 years in recovery between them. Residents are offered flexible lengths of stay in a safe and structured environment.
Accommodations and Amenities
The 11th Step House is located in a quiet, wooded area and can accommodate a total of nine women. Rooms are shared between two to three residents and each comes equipped with either twin or full beds, desks, dressers and closet space. Residents are allowed to decorate their bedrooms as they please, provided it is appropriate for a recovery environment.
The facility has an eclectic decor and features two bathrooms, shared amongst the residents, common areas with cable TV, a dining room, a large deck and a full kitchen. While residents generally cook for themselves, the staff provides dinner on Wednesday evenings. The facility’s director and assistant director also live on site.
Rules and Regulations
In general, residents are expected to follow a basic house behavioral contract, which includes participating in house meetings and check-ins, and to remain active in the community through either employment, volunteer work or outpatient treatment. Clients are also required to attend regular 12-step meetings and get a sponsor. The recommended length of stay is one year, though residents can often stay longer if they need to. As necessary, the staff helps residents develop life skills; including cooking lessons, resume building and job searching.

The 11th Step House does its best to foster a warm, family environment by celebrating major holidays at the home. For example, all residents receive a stocking with small gifts on Christmas and alumni have has baby showers thrown for them at the facility in the past. The home also has three poodles on site that residents can spend time with during downtime.
