1016 Recovery Network Review

1016 Recovery Network was founded in 1979 as a halfway house. In the late 1980s, under the leadership of Howard Swift, the facility turned into a treatment program. Today, 1016 Recovery Network offers affordable residential detox and residential treatment for drug and alcohol addiction in Midland, Michigan. The program combines both 12-step and evidence-based treatment modalities, as well as detox and dual diagnosis support.

Accommodations and Food

Residential detox is offered in a comfortable house-like facility with six beds. Rooms are double-occupancy and clients sleep in single beds.

The 20-bed residential program offers a stylish, home-like environment. Rooms are double- or triple-occupancy with single beds. There is a living room with a fire place where clients can relax, watch TV and interact with one another.

When it comes to exercise, clients are taken off-site to a gym six days a week.

Meals at the facility are made by a cook with the help of two clients. Kitchen duties are given out on a rotating schedule. When clients arrive for treatment, the cook discusses any dietary restrictions, food sensitivities or allergies they may have. The food is tasty, although it is a bit on the heavy side.

There are two gender-specific sober living homes available: the seven-bed Isabella House for women and the 13-bed Eastman House for men. The accommodations are clean, stylish and comfortable, with clients sleeping in single beds.

Treatment and Staff

Detox treatment lasts as long as is medically necessary for the client to physically withdraw from substances (usually three to five days). Treatment includes medication to ease withdrawal symptoms under physician supervision. In addition, clients are provided with individual and group counseling.

The residential program usually lasts between 30 and 90 days. Upon admission, each client receives an individualized treatment program from their counselor. Treatment includes mandatory 12-step participation with daily meetings held on site. In addition, clients participate in individual therapy once a week, as well as daily group therapy. The group sessions include evidence-based modalities like CBT, coping skills, stress and anger management, as well as relapse prevention and addiction education. Those with co-occurring disorders can attend specialized groups for mental health issues.

1016 offers outpatient care following the completion of residential. This involves a mixture of individual and group therapy, with intensity and length of treatment varying from client to client.

Staff members include LADCs, as well as staff who oversee the facilities and make sure everything is kept in order. There is a one-to-two staff-to-client ratio. Psychiatrists are on call for medication needs and physicians are present at the detox facility.

Extras

Gender-specific sober living is available. Both are self-run homes that allow clients to live in supportive environments.

1016 offers aftercare and family programming.

In Summary

For those looking for a Michigan residential program with a 12-step emphasis, 1016 Recovery Network is a great option. With extensive community resources, outpatient care and sober living networks, support doesn’t end after the completion of residential.
