10 Acre Ranch Outpatient Review
Set on a small ranch in Riverside, California, 10 Acre Ranch is a gender-specific addiction treatment program for men 18 years and older. Founded in 1992, the organization offers detox, residential and outpatient care to adult men struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. The 10 Acre Ranch programs occupy four residences in the same neighborhood, including the original ranch home with several acres of land, four horses, a goat and a turkey. The other facilities include clinical treatment spaces and offices.
The outpatient options include a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and standard outpatient care. Both self-referred clients and men who have been court ordered to treatment can work with a counselor to design a treatment plan that suits their needs and fulfills legal requirements.
Treatment and Staff
The treatment process begins with an assessment so that an individualized treatment plan can be developed. The facility has a mental health therapist on staff so it is equipped to provide dual diagnosis support.
The outpatient programs are designed for clients that are either transitioning out of residential treatment or need to attend treatment while maintaining their outside commitments, like work, school and family. Clients in the PHP attend eight hours of treatment a day, five days a week, which includes group, individual and family therapy. Programs may also include recreation, 12-step attendance and goal setting. Typically, insurance plans cover seven to 10 days of PHP, with extensions permitted in some situations. After the PHP phase, clients transition to IOP, which generally consists of three group sessions a week but can be customized to meet the needs of each client.
The staff includes an RN and MD, CADCs, LCSWs, Master’s-level mental health therapists and various other support staff.
Extras
Family counseling and family groups are offered to all clients and their loved ones. These meetings are aimed at providing substance abuse education as well as addressing co-dependency issues.
