1 Method Center Outpatient Review
Los Angeles-based 1 Method Center offers day and night outpatient care with a sober living option. Located in LA’s upscale Westside area, 1 Method was founded in September 2014 by Cassidy Cousens, a certified addiction counselor who previously created the Authentic Recovery program. Based on his success with Authentic Recovery, Cousens wanted to create a new highly individualized, abstinence-based addiction and co-occurring disorders program. Although the continuum of care offered by 1 Method begins with detox and residential treatment, the outpatient programs are available as a stand-alone service for those who have completed another rehab or do not require the intensity of 24-hour supervision.
Treatment and Staff
Outpatient treatment at 1 Method is individualized but the average duration is 30 to 45 days. Treatment centers around finding the root of the addiction and specifically addressing co-occurring mental health disorders.
Day treatment clients attend therapy during the day three to five days a week for three hours. They return home or to their sober living house at the end of the day. This level of care provides structure and support while helping the client begin integrating back into daily life. The night program is designed for those who have work or school commitments during the day and meets three evenings a week for 6 to 9 pm. The programs include individual and group therapy that follows a CBT approach and medication management is offered for co-occurring disorders. Clients are also encouraged to attend 12-step meetings in the community but this is not mandatory.
The team includes physicians, a nurse practitioner, psychiatrists, CADCs and MFTs. There is also a staff nutritionist, several fitness trainers and a yoga instructor.
Extras
An important component of the 1 Method experience is a specialized health and fitness program that’s customized to a client’s needs. This program is available to outpatient clients and includes fitness training, yoga classes and nutritional counseling.
There is an upscale co-ed sober living option offered by 1 Method Recovery for clients who are enrolled in the outpatient program. The house has six beds, with private rooms available at an additional cost. Residents benefit from the support of a sober community and have access to many of the benefits of the residential program.
