The Basics
Established in 1981 in Oklahoma City, The Recovery Center (TRC) is a nonprofit organization devoted to the care of those suffering from alcoholism and substance abuse. Offering comprehensive outpatient and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) as well as detox services, TRC is lauded by former clients as having high standards of care and a patient, kind staff.
Treatment and Staff
After an initial intake assessment, counselors and clients develop individualized treatment plans. The length of outpatient and IOP are entirely dependent on each individual, though both last at least 30 days. Group and individual therapy make up the majority of the treatment at TRC. Typically, individual therapy occurs once per week, though it may be increased to up to three times per week when necessary. Group therapy is three times a week, but can occur as often as five times a week. Group sessions are coed and led by a CADC. TRC is also equipped to support those with co-occurring disorders.
While the facility does not subscribe to 12-step or SMART philosophies, it does offer holistic healing practices including yoga and meditation. Family therapy is also offered.
TRC has a 48-bed detox facility complete with an on-site chef who prepares healthy, balanced meals three times per day for clients in residence. Detox treatment typically lasts 10 days during which phone calls and visits are kept to an absolute minimum. Suboxone is available for an additional charge.
A doctor is on staff at TRC as well as several nurses and counselors with certifications such as CADC, CASAC and LADC. Administrative staff are available around the clock to assist clients in case of emergency, both in person and over the phone. The staff-to-client ratio is roughly one-to-four.
Extras
TRC offers aftercare for alumni in the form of ongoing individual and weekly group therapy. Case managers also continue to assist clients with tasks such as job placement and relapse prevention.
TRC is the only private nonprofit rehab and detox in Oklahoma City. Admission to detox can sometimes require an extended waiting period.
In Summary
The Recovery Center is a respected facility that offers quality treatment at an affordable price. Though its IOP and outpatient programs don’t have a multitude of options, it nonetheless takes good care of its clients. Those who come here can expect straightforward but reliable treatment.
