Rewind Review
Rewind first opened its doors in 2007 in the small town of Perham, Minnesota, located about an hour east of Fargo, North Dakota. Rewind offers 12-step oriented inpatient and outpatient substance abuse treatment services. There are two separate facilities—one for women and one that treats men. Rewind does not provide detox and facilitates dual diagnosis support off site by transporting clients to their psychiatric appointments as needed.
Accommodations and Food
Rewind operates two residential homes that are next door to each other. Each facility offers 10 beds and each client shares a bedroom with one other person, but has their own dresser and armoire. There are meeting rooms and common areas with TVs in each house, as well as on-site laundry facilities.
Clients are responsible for their own breakfast and lunch, but they take turns helping prepare the evening meals. Groceries are provided by the Rewind staff and dinner is served family-style in each house.
Treatment and Staff
Inpatient treatment at Rewind ranges from 30 days to six months and includes seven hours of mandatory CBT per week. On Tuesdays, a house meeting takes place in each facility. Group therapy sessions take place between 8 am and 12 pm. A half hour of meditation is included in that time frame. Clients are also required to attend one individual therapy session per week as well as off-site AA/NA meetings. They are permitted to go to church outside of the facility.
Clients can get a job in the community if their counselor sees fit and that choice aligns with their treatment. They also get to visit a local community center three times a week for exercise and recreation. Those who complete residential treatment are encouraged to continue with an outpatient relapse prevention program that meets on Mondays and Wednesdays between 10 am and 1 pm.
Rewind staff consists of five LADCs and a registered nurse, as well as a director and a DUI educator.
Extras
On top of its substance abuse treatment services, Rewind offers a DUI education program on weekends, which may last from eight up to 16 hours depending on the infraction.
In Summary
Rewind offers a solid selection of substance abuse treatment options, with residential treatment varying from short term to extended longer term. This is most likely not the facility for those who are resistant to a spiritual component of recovery. But for those who believe in the 12-step approach, Rewind may be a good fit.
