Located just outside of San Diego in the sleepy southern California environs of Temecula, Ranch Creek Recovery is a luxury retreat set on seven acres of private hills with a view of both the downtown lights of the city and the nearby mountains. Accommodations and Food
Ranch Creek takes their accommodations seriously—in addition to the beautiful surroundings, all residents are housed in a 5,000 square-foot ranch home. Since Ranch Creek keeps its numbers extremely low (with only six clients at a time), most of the rooms are private, though some are occasionally shared with one other person. Still, each has a private bathroom and comfortable queen beds complete with high-end linens, with every effort made to provide a comfortable stay. Clients take care of preparing their own meals with healthy food provided by the facility.
Treatment and Staff
Options abound at Ranch Creek. The cornerstone of the treatment program is dual diagnosis support, wherein both chemical dependency and emotional or psychiatric issues are handled concurrently. It’s is not a back-to-basics, 12-step-heavy facility, but a luxury experience that caters to each individual. There is no medical detox offered at Ranch Creek; if necessary, clients are referred to an off-site facility before their stay. During intake, residents develop their own customized program, which includes drug and alcohol dependency group therapy, one-on-one therapy, family sessions, personal growth programs and a wide range of experiential therapies including equine therapy, yoga classes, acupuncture, meditation, a fitness program and more. Ranch Creek also gets high grades for its aftercare program which includes placement into transitional sober living homes, access to support groups, alumni events and continued follow-up from staff.
With only six clients on-site, there’s an environment of extreme intimacy with plenty of opportunities to maximize the resources of the staff, who are there around the clock. This includes licensed counselors and an on-staff psychologist; still, Ranch Creek has no licensed medical staff on-site, so doctor visits and and psychiatric evaluations are done off-site beforehand.

Given the wide range of experiential treatment options, it’s no surprise that Ranch Creek puts a priority on providing a host of recreation and relaxation opportunities as well. The campus boast a swank swimming pool, a gym and a spa. There’s also a full basketball and tennis court, a barbecue pit and more. Everything has a definite vacation feel at Ranch Creek, and while weeks are heavy with the work of recovery, opportunities abound to enjoy the natural setting. Those missing their beloved four legged friends are also in luck as, during family visits, (well-behaved) pets are welcome to attend and roam the grounds with the clients. Finally, Ranch Creek also offers Amino Acid Therapy, which seeks to naturally regain a proper balance of amino acid levels with supplementation, correcting any imbalances caused by addiction, depression or pharmaceutical drugs used to combat the other two.
