Accommodations and Staff
Situated on a quiet neighborhood street, Harmony’s two gender-separate houses sit adjacent to one another. The Tudor-style units both have high ceilings and stylish interiors. Each has a living room with plush couches and TV, a state-of-the-art kitchen, a large dining room, a community room and an outdoor deck overlooking the pool. The double-occupancy rooms have full-size beds and dressers for each client as well as a shared bathroom. Adding to the ambience are treehouses and meditation areas on the premises. Cell phones are not permitted, but smoking is. For exercise, clients can work out in the on-site gym.
Three meals a day are prepared by the resident chef who provides adequate nutrition, good taste and can adjust the menu according to special dietary needs. Coffee and snacks are available throughout the day.
Treatment and Staff
The 30-day residential program is highly individualized and begins with a thorough evaluation which becomes the foundation for a treatment plan. Detox is available on-site.
Treatment includes a variety of evidence-based therapies such as CBT, DBT, Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET) and relapse prevention. But what sets Harmony Place apart from many facilities is its trademarked “BrainRecovery” program, which involves brain mapping techniques to identify changes in activity due to addiction. After identifying the areas that need strengthening, they can be targeted through the range of cognitive therapies mentioned above. Harmony claims an 80% sobriety rate with BrainRecovery over two years compared to the industry standard of 20 to 25%.
Individual therapy is emphasized here, with clients attending one session each day. Group therapy is also held daily for support and addresses topics such as trauma, anger management and relapse prevention. Psychiatric sessions are available on-site for mental health issues or medication management. Though the 12 steps are not a mandatory part of the recovery process, clients may attend on-site and off-site meetings. Family members can visit on the weekends and participate family therapy sessions.
The professional staff is licensed and credentialed in addiction medicine. Among them are a physician with expertise in addiction and pain management, a board-certified psychiatrist with more than 25 years of experience and licensed nurses. Trained personnel are on-site 24/7.
