It specializes in mental health and chemical dependency issues, offering detox and outpatient substance abuse treatment services, including partial hospitalization (PHP) and dual-diagnosis support to adults and adolescents. For over 20 years, Glen Oaks Hospital has been one of the top mental health and chemical dependency service providers in the area. Treatment and Staff
Treatment at Glen Oaks starts with a free assessment. If detox is necessary, it tends to last five to seven days and may extend to a maximum of 10 days. During detox, group CBT sessions are provided daily. Once detox is completed, or for those who have completed inpatient treatment elsewhere, Glen Oaks offers PHP. During this program, clients live at home and participate in daily treatment at the hospital. The length of the program depends on the individual.
The PHP program includes five group therapy sessions a week, for three hours per session. Group therapy and education emphasize creating a support system and learning about the disease of addiction. Individual therapy is optional and comes at an extra cost.
The intensive outpatient program (IOP) offers the same services as the PHP, but with three sessions a week. The duration of the IOP program is typically six weeks. Those with co-occurring disorders take part in a specialized dual-diagnosis group once a week led by a psychiatrist, rather than a counselor. Supplemental recovery support groups like AA or NA are encouraged, but are not mandatory. While the structure is the same for adult and adolescent clients, groups are segregated by age, so clients are surrounded by peers.
Glen Oaks’ staff consists of LCDCs psychiatrists, nurses, social workers and therapists. There are two on-site medical directors, both physicians, for youth and for adult services.

Glen Oaks Hospital is a good resource for those who need intensive treatment while living at home, rather than a residential program. The costs of IOP and PHP are fairly reasonable, but some may prefer to detox at a more economical facility or find a rehab that offers detox, inpatient and outpatient under one roof.
