Clarity Recovery Review
With several locations in Springfield and Branson, Missouri, Clarity Recovery (a division of Burrell Behavioral Health) offers a variety of inpatient and outpatient treatment services for alcoholism, substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. Though Clarity isn’t a luxury rehab, its residential facilities—in operation since the early 1990s— provide ample treatment options.
Accommodations and Food
Compared to other facilities of equal size, Clarity admits fewer clients. As a result, accommodations are comfortable and never cramped. Rooms are modest, however, each with two single beds, dressers and a bathroom shared by four residents. There are also communal spaces with TVs and lounges for socializing.
Clarity’s goal is to ensure that clients have a nutritious, healthful diet, though occasionally at the expense of variety. Meals tend to be 60 percent carbohydrates and 40 percent protein. While the food is tasty enough, residents should expect limited choices.
Treatment and Staff
Clarity offers evidence-based treatment with a 12-step foundation and dual diagnosis support. Beyond that, residents participate in group and individual therapy once a week. The treatment modalities used are CBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and trauma-informed care. Length of stay varies depending on need and on each client’s individualized treatment plan, but most typical stays last between 30 and 90 days.
Many residents start with an on-site detox which lasts between three and five days before transferring to residential treatment. The facility offers Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) as an option, using Suboxone, Vivitrol and Naltrexone under certain circumstances.
There are about 78 staff employees collectively at all Clarity locations, with 30 of them credentialed with LADC or CADC. Counselors are on staff 24-hours-a-day seven days a week, but there is no doctor on-site. The staff-to-client ratio varies depending on the number of residents at any particular time, but is typically about one-to-six.
In addition to residential treatment, Clarity offers an intensive outpatient track as well (IOP), which includes almost all the same services. Based on each client’s situation, IOP tends to last four hours a day for six days a week, though the duration of these programs can vary.
Extras
Aside from the various programs mentioned above, Clarity Recovery also offers aftercare consisting of group sessions, individual counseling and AA meetings.
In Summary
In all, one of the primary selling points of Clarity is that it’s available to individuals regardless of their income or resources. Theirs is a streamlined organization with no thrills—residents shouldn’t expect any yoga, meditation, or equine therapy here. Instead, clients receive traditional 12-step treatment in a well-staffed environment which has proven itself effective for 25 years.
