Belair Clinic Review
Belair Clinic in Bellingham, Washington is an outpatient treatment facility dedicated to serving Western Washington’s recovery community. Founded in 1988 by Duane W. Stewart, the Belair Clinic provides adults and adolescents a variety of flexible programs that allow them to maintain their jobs and family relationships while getting help.
Treatment and Staff
Belair offers what they call a “new science,” approach to treatment, which is a mix of neuroscience, eastern psychology, Buddhism, mindfulness, REBT, CBT, DBT, group and individual therapy. These methods are mixed in with some aspects of 12-step recovery but Belair is not strictly a 12-step facility. Clients receive two individual sessions per month, but are welcome to have daily sessions upon request (for an extra fee). Belair has a family program, where a therapist holds private sessions with couples and other loved ones. Family members meet both together and separately.
Because there are no doctors on site, Belair refers clients in need of medical care to local doctors—likewise with detox services. Though this clinic is not dual diagnosis certified, it does offer services to those with mental disorders who are also substance abusers..
Belair’s staff is comprised of five highly-credentialed professionals, including a behavioral health supervisor, a registered nurse, a mental health nurse, a certified addictions nurse and a counselor. Since they have between 60 and 75 clients, the staff-to-client ratio is fairly low. Belair’s specialists are available Monday through Saturday from 7 am to 8 pm.
In addition to the main treatment options, Belair also has an adolescent program that uses an interactive-journaling method, an Alcohol-Drug Information School (ADIS) and a 52-week relapse prevention group that meets one hour per week for an entire year.

The clinic has a comfortable group room furnished with a giant television and WiFi for clients, who can come and go as they please during free time.
