Ambrosia South offers holistic, well-rounded residential treatment for addiction and co-occurring disorders in Palm Beach, Florida. Its unofficial mission statement is to lead clients to a purer way of living, which it accomplishes by using cutting-edge technology and an individualized approach to tackle any ailments residents may have.
Accommodations and Food
Ambrosia can serve up to 36 clients at a time, all between the ages of 25 to 40. It strives to create a living environment that feels like a home away from home; to that end, residents are put in three-story townhouses (each with room for six) with all the features of a regular home. All bedrooms are shared between two clients, and each comes with twin beds, adequate closet space and a private bathroom. Therapy takes place in an office building down the road from the townhouses, which Ambrosia provides transportation to; therapy rooms contain leather couches, carpeted floors and natural light.
Each townhouse also has a spacious, state of the art kitchen where residents prepare all of their own meals. Clients take weekly trips to the grocery store to pick out cooking ingredients from their weekly food allowance (included in the price); sugar and caffeine are allowed as well. Residents also take several classes with an on-site nutritionist to learn healthier eating habits.
Treatment and Staff
While Ambrosia primarily uses the 12-step model, it also aims to address the mental and emotional sides of addiction. Group therapy takes up most of each client’s day, and focuses on the disease concept of addiction, relapse prevention, emotional processing and recognizing triggers. Beyond that, each resident also gets assigned an individual counselor to work with once or twice a week. Those suffering from trauma can work with a specialized trauma therapist during their stay, with EMDR used in specific cases when needed. Family sessions are every second weekend of the month, where family members come into the facility to have both group and individual therapy with the clients.
There are daily off-site AA meetings every night, and each resident is encouraged to get a temporary sponsor to lead them through steps one through three while they’re still in treatment. Overall their 30 day program runs on a 9 am to 5 pm schedule, and clients are expected to treat recovery like a full-time job, with downtime in the evenings and on weekends.
Ambrosia’s staff is made up of five therapists, two of them men and three women. They range from MFTs, CSWs and drug and alcohol counselors; both a psychiatrist and a medical doctor are also brought in once a week to see to residents’ mental and physical health.
Extras
Holistic treatment is held in high regard at Ambrosia. Art therapy and yoga are included to help clients get centered in their bodies and move through their emotions. The facility also brings in outside acupuncturists, chiropractors and massage therapists for residents to take advantage of (though there’s an additional per session charge for their services).
When it comes to physical activity, Ambrosia offers clients access to a high-end gym and Olympic-sized pool, both off-site; residents can also hike and walk on the beach during weekend outings. Finally, each townhouse has a flat-screen TV that can be used during free time after the first two weeks of treatment.

Ambrosia South offers a comprehensive 30-day treatment plan at a fair rate. By mixing the 12 steps with alternative healing methods, residents get the best of both worlds in a comfortable setting. And by treating each client as an individual, Ambrosia does an effective job of hitting addiction from all angles.
